Business Processes of Harbour and Port Terminals

Under the auspices of the EU sponsored RTD project of eLOGMAR-M, the activities of the expert group for "Business Processes of Harbour and Port Terminals" are aimed at, but are not restricted to, the business- and logistics processes involved in the development and in the operation of harbours and port terminals. To this end the following topics are being addressed:

1. Observation and documentation of logistics processes and processes related to logistics.
2. In the name of increased efficiency, assist clients to re-engineer processes found to be wanting. This will be enabled by:
3. Computer aided planning of port and terminal layout, equipment selection, port and terminal operations and associated manpower planning.
4. Maritime transport and IT developments to support the above tasks with the objective to increase the efficiency of the combined system of ‘ship and terminal’ as well as those of associated ‘components’.

The persons joining this expert group intend to combine knowledge and form alliances to address industrial and academic RTD problems related to logistics processes involved in the development and in the operation of harbours and terminals. This will be done through future joint or individual project submissions to funding bodies and / or to jointly and separately offering consultancy services to industrial clients as the case may require.

The members of this expert group may meet at events of common interest as well as during workshops to aid the preparation and finalisation of submissions to funding bodies, and / or tenders for industrial work.
